Manual Handling Trainers/Keyworkers


This course is a mandatory training requirement for:

  • All Trainers/keyworkers who originally have attended a four day keyworker training course and who attend two annual refresher days;
  • To provide Trainers/keyworkers with the practical skills needed to perform manual handling tasks as safely as possible, and to enable them to provide competency training within the workplace to employees to meet relevant legislative and organisational needs;
  • The main content of these refreshers are to implement evidenced based practice i.e. the Derbyshire Inter-agency Group Code of Practice (DIAG) approach;
  • To provide practical training to ensure employee maintains competence to fulfil the role of manual handling keyworker.

Learning Outcomes

  • Be able to implement DIAG into the workplace;
  • Assess staff competence in relation to manual handling of people and inanimate loads;
  • Maintain documentation in the workplace in relation to manual handling.
