Employees involved in people handling


To provide newly appointed and existing employees with the practical skills needed to perform manual handling tasks as safely as possible, in situations where they are handling people. Employees will also be provided with underpinning knowledge relating to legislation and back care awareness.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session learners will understand:

Manual handling hazards, risks and controls
How manual handling operations can cause injury and harm
The scope of legal requirements and where guidance can be found
The process for assessing manual handling risks
The value of risk assessment and how it applies to safe manual handling practice
Practical Manual handling techniques, particularly in relation to people handling, to include use of typical aids such as standing and raising aids, mobile and fixed, hoists, etc.

Understanding will be confirmed by a candidate assessment.
